Ghirardelli Mint Chocolate Bar

And after the disappointment of yesterday, we move onto the final bar from Ghirardelli, the Mint flavoured bar.

Now I do like mint chocolate when it’s done well, like the Peppermint Aero, and not like the Mint Slice Twix. And this bar is inbetween I think.

It’s ok, it’s not QUITE as nice as the Peppermint Aero, but it’s a ton better than the Mint Twix I reviewed recently. I was able to eat the entire bar and enjoy it, but I don’t think I’d bother again. If you’re American and want some minty chocolate then give this a try, it’s good, just not worth the effort of importing if Ghirardelli don’t operate in your country.

Now as far I’m concerned, this is the main test. I’ve tasted American chocolate that’s fine once it’s been flavoured or mixed with other things, but ordinary milk chocolate is usually done badly, I’m praying that I’m not let down here.

It’s blue colouring this time from Ghirardelli, and I’m going to swiftly move onto the bar itself.

Sadly, it’s not very nice. Now I will say that this bar is a few months out of date which may have affected the taste, and I hope it has, because I really didn’t like this. It just tasted…off, worse than the others I tried, and much worse than any British milk chocolate. I’ll be happy to try a fresh bar in the future though, because I’m sure that it was the date that affected this.

Ghirardelli Milk Chocolate Bar with Almonds

Staying with Ghiradelli (2 more bars after this one), we have here the Milk Chocolate bar with Almonds. I like milk chocolate, I like almonds, surely we’re onto a winner here.

It’s wrapped the same as yesterday’s dark chocolate bar, only with gold colouring today as opposed to the red colouring of yesterday.

The bar is littered with small shreds of almond, not really what was I expecting, or hoping for, but the bar is so thin that full almonds wouldn’t have worked at all.

It’s good though, the almonds are frequent enough that you never find yourself biting a piece of ordinary chocolate, you’ll always have some almonds there to taste as well, and they taste good. The chocolate tastes fine, and I really can’t say anything bad about this at all.

Ghirardelli Dark Chocolate Bar

Oh boy, American chocolate again. American dark chocolate as well, the boys across the pond struggle with bog standard milk chocolate, let alone dark chocolate. Looks like I may be taking one for the team for this.

Now I’m being unfair, because this doesn’t look bad. It’s 60% cocoa which is a little low, but I’m ok with that because it means I can handle it. This is a foil wrapped bar from what I hear are a prestigious chocolate maker in America.

The bar is a long, thin slab of chocolate. It has ‘Ghirardelli’ printed into it, with their emblem of what is probably a dove, above it. As for the taste, it’s standard dark chocolate really. Bitter-sweet stuff, there’s no wow factor here for me. It’s not bad stuff, but you have to take your time with it, and the taste really isn’t THAT great, which is a shame.

If you like ordinary dark chocolate with no funny stuff, you’ll like this I guess. It has 180 calories, 19g of Carbs, 14g of Fat and 2g of Protein.
