The Chocolate Review has moved

Hi folks,

Just wanted to confirm that tonight The Chocolate Review moved off WordPress and onto its own website.

All my old posts are there as well as all the old comments, in fact the blog looks pretty much the same, but it’s better for me.

So please update your bookmarks and tell everyone you know that I have moved!

Thanks to everyone for their support, comments and everything basically over the past 4 months. Let’s move forward together and continue with the wonderful community and even better chocolate!

The Chocolate Review is moving?

I have decided to take The Chocolate Review off WordPress and move it onto a proper server. I’m currently in the process of just sorting everything out so it will be offline until I make another announcement.

I will make another announcement when everything is done. Until then, sit back and relax, look through the old reviews and enjoy your chocolate.

I would also like to thank each and every one of my readers for this, I started this blog 4 months ago after looking at a couple of the other ones on the internet, and had no idea that I too would one day be on their blogroll and visited by so many people, it means a lot to me and I hope that everything on the new website runs just as, if not even more smoothly than this one.

A box of chocolate from a good friend!

Just a short post here. Wanted to thank Sera from CandyAddict who sent me this box full of some of her favourite American chocolate. I’ll also be sending her one once I get myself sorted, it’s only fair! Basically I just wanted to post some photos of what she sent so you readers have an idea of what will be upcoming, you can request a review of any of these if you want. Also if any of you were planning on sending me things (nudge nudge) then this is a prime example of an excellently packed box. It got to me in just a few days, and was in a nice little box, with the chocolates in a genuine American carrier bag. Wonderful!

So thank you very much Sera. Your chocolate has gone to a loving home!

Paypal Donations to The Chocolate Review

Hi all,

In what turned out to be a harder task than I originally anticipated, I’ve added a Paypal Donate button to my sidebar, as well as a hyperlink to my email address in case the system I had before confused you. In case you’re not familiar with the hyperlink, clicking it will bring up Microsoft Outlook Express (or whatever operating system you have’s equivalent) and you can email me from there, or alternatively you can right click, copy the email address and then paste it in whichever client you use for emailing (Hotmail, Gmail, etc).

The Paypal bit is something I’ve been wondering for awhile about whether to put up or not. To those of you who actively read the comments, you might know that I’ve been wanting to implement a feature here where I’ll be video reviewing chocolate, which personally I feel is a bit more intimate than just writing about it, and it’s just something I want to try out and see if it works. I’ll put up text reviews as well as images of the chocolate, but will also include a link to the Youtube videos where I’ll be hosting them and so you can literally watch me unwrapping, eating and then talking about the chocolate.

So why the Paypal button? Well, all this costs money. I want to get a good webcam (not the piece of crap I have at the moment) and a decent microphone, and that’s without buying any chocolate either! I’m not gonna bug anyone about donating, but basically if you’ve got a bit of spare money and you just wanna help me out and have a Paypal account then please, feel free to send me whatever amount you can/want to. I will still be able to (eventually) afford the new equipment in time, but every little helps and it will enable me to ‘evolve’ this blog quicker, as well as perhaps eventually get it off WordPress and onto a proper website.

So yeah, as I said I won’t mention this again after this post, just remember that the Paypal button is in the top right hand corner, and that anything you donate to me will be spent on this website, so not for personal gain at all, unless weight gain from all the chocolate counts. 😀

Gimme Your Stuff!

Hey everyone,

I came across this site whilst browsing other blogs, and thought it could be interesting. Basically you send stuff over from your country, and vice-versa from me to you. What I can offer are:

– Various types of chocolate, sweets, candy, whatever you call them.
– Other food stuffs
– Perhaps some sort of souvenirs/postcards from here in England.
– Magazines, newspapers and things like that.

What I’m after would be…well, pretty much the same stuff. What I’d be most interested in is various types of chocolate from your country, as long as I haven’t reviewed it in the past then send it on over! I don’t mind other little trinkets, but being honest, this is The Chocolate Review, and that’s what I’m here to do.

Sorting out the categories

I was wondering to myself whether to actually make a post out of this or not, and in my boredom I decided I might as well. You’ll see down the right hand side of the page that the Categories are a little different now, gone are categories such as “Kit Kats” and “Aeros”, instead replaced by “Mars”, “Glico” and others. I’ve done this because I noticed the categories were getting a little messy, and some foods would be harder to find here than others, so I’ve categorised everything both by country of origin and by the company which made it.

That should make things a little easier for you to find what you’re looking for, and for me to categorise stuff when I review it as well.  Just wanted to make it clear for everyone!

A revamp of The Chocolate Review!

Hi everyone,

Just wanted to post and mention that yes, as you can see I’ve changed the design of the blog. I’ve had that dark colour scheme since I started this, and thought a white background and a fresh colour scheme would perhaps suit the blog better. I’ve also put up an ‘About’ page, which you may or not be interested in, it’s basically just a snippet of information about the blog and me.

If you hate this scheme, or love it, then feel free to tell me. I hope I haven’t shocked anyone with such a drastic change.

Breaking 1000 hits!

Just a short post here. I noticed today that this blog has broken 1000 unique hits, and I just wanted to give a big thank you to everyone who comes here and reads my posts. I’ve only been around for about 5 or 6 weeks, and I’m amazed at how many people have read this already.

So anyway, thank you everyone. I hope to continue posting (I’ve got so much chocolate in my cupboard right now that I’ll have to anyway!) and telling everyone about all the different types of chocolate and snacks based around the world.

I also urge you to get in contact with me and make requests. I’ve noticed that certain posts get more hits than others and have reacted to that (e.g. buying about 15 different kinds of Pocky), but I’d love to get some direct feedback. My email address is in the top right hand corner of the blog. Please email me, or comment here if it’s easier, and let me know what you think, I’d really appreciate it.

The beginning of an era

Hello everyone!

You can all my info over to the right, the objective of this blog is for me to review chocolate. I know this is something that is already being done by many other people. The way I am attempting to set myself apart will be with frequent updates and reviews of chocolate from as many different regions as I can.

Feel free to comment, please send me an email if you wish, if you wish for me to review a specific chocolate then tell me and I’ll make sure to put it on my to-do list. If you want to send me chocolate then send me an email and we can work out the particulars.
